Northern Plains Watercolor Society is celebrating over 25 years of encouraging growth and excellence in the art of watercolor through shows, demonstrations, education and camaraderie!

When a dozen local artists founded the society in June, 1995, it was to promote arts throughout the Black Hills and the surrounding Plains states via workshops, educational programs, lectures, and shows intended to showcase and enrich the art and cultural understanding within our communities. That mission remains today!

A 501c3 non-profit, NPWS is funded only by modest dues, treasured donations, and sponsorships. Those resources fund the Annual Celebration of Light Watercolor Exhibition featuring artwork by members. Because of generous sponsors like you, we can:

Offer cash awards to winning artists,
Host an artist and community reception, and
Annually bring well-known, talented workshop instructors to the Black Hills to teach and enrich the art community.
Additionally, we offer an annual scholarship to art teachers in our community enabling them to purchase watercolor supplies and introduce the art of watercolor to youth.

We assure tax deductibility, and provide appropriate receipt. And, to show our appreciation:

We publish sponsors’ names at the annual exhibition, which is currently at The Dahl Fine Arts Center.
Sponsors are considered honorary members of NPWS and entitled to newsletters when requested.
All sponsor or company names are published in the Celebration of Light program, announced at the awards presentations opening night of the exhibition, and
Are highlighted for the six-week duration of the show on the Artwork Name Tags posted next to award-winning watercolors.
