A dozen local artists founded the society in June of 1995 to promote arts throughout the Black Hills and the surrounding Plains States. Through workshops, educational programs, lectures and shows the new organization hoped to enrich the cultural understanding of our community.

We are one of a handful of pure, transparent, watercolor societies in the U.S.
NPWS Membership includes opportunities for learning through workshops; and most importantly, enjoying the camaraderie and friendship of other artists. You may now apply by filling out our Membership Application.
